Casa El Buen Samaritano was founded to share the love of Jesus Christ by providing free, high-quality healthcare to communities in need. The journey began with Dr. Barry Landrum, former Senior Pastor of West University Church, who sought to expand the church’s outreach beyond its walls. His mission to "go and make disciples of all nations" laid the foundation for Casa’s work.

Dr. Landrum partnered with Dr. Stephen Spann, a physician and former Uruguay missionary who believed medicine could serve as a powerful ministry. Their vision grew with the addition of Royce Hassell, whose expertise in construction and project management helped turn the idea into reality. Together, they laid the groundwork for a vital healthcare ministry serving Houston’s most underserved communities.
Casa’s first clinic operated from a modest donated trailer repurposed to provide essential medical care. As demand grew, a second trailer was acquired at no cost, expanding patient capacity. However, recognizing the need for a long-term solution, Casa’s leadership formed a task force in 2017 to evaluate options.

After careful planning and collaboration with experts, the board decided to build a permanent medical facility, which opened in 2020, allowing expanded services. In August 2021, Casa launched its first dental clinic, strengthening its commitment to whole-person, patient-centered care.

What began as a clinic serving three zip codes in Houston has now grown to reach more than 110 zip codes across the region, ensuring quality healthcare is accessible to those who need it most.
